Sunderland to support Foundation of Light's campaign by wearing red shorts against Hull City
Sunderland will be wearing special one-off red shorts against Hull City on Good Friday to support the Foundation of Lights ‘small change big difference’ campaign.
The initiative has been made possible by Sunderland’s back of shorts sponsor Eleven Sports, who have allowed the Foundation of Light’s logo on the back of the red shorts instead of their own.
Sunderland Head Coach Tony Mowbray said: “I’m very proud to support Foundation of Light’s Small Change Big Difference campaign and its mission to tackle child poverty.”
Following Good Friday’s match against Hull, the special edition shorts will be signed by players before being auctioned off with proceeds going towards the campaign to help Northeast families who are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
The match is being dedicated to the foundation and there will also be activities in and around the stadium before the match and at half-time.
Sunderland last wore red shorts with their famous red and white stripes during the 18/19 season in League One, but have since worn black shorts over the past four seasons.
Supporters who want to donate to the campaign can do so by texting ‘FOLFIVE’ to 70085 to donate £5 or ‘FOLTEN’ to the same number to donate £10.
