Tony Mowbray said he had ‘no complaints’ about the award of the late penalty that denied Sunderland a win over Bristol City.

Sunderland looked like they were heading for a 1-0 win over the Robins thanks to a superb Jack Clarke goal, but they couldn’t hang on for all three points.

Trai Hume was adjudged to have brought down Jay Dasilva in the penalty area in injury time, allowing Nahki Wells to equalise.

There was a suggestion that the first foul committed was on Hume, but Mowbray says he was happy to accept the decision.

"First and foremost I think we played against a very good, young, athletic team who worked really hard all over the pitch,” Mowbray told safc.com.

“They played without any centre forwards really to start with, because they knew they were going to have to do a lot of chasing and running. They did, and they were a threat in the transition.

“We got our noses in front and felt as if we were going to see it out, as we have done recently against teams at home.

“But it wasn't to be, they get a penalty late on - I haven't really watched it back and I'm not complaining. They were full of legs and running, gave us some problems.

“ We did miss some opportunities to make it two and put the game to bed but it wasn't to be today. We'll put the point in the bag and move onto the next one."
