Defending Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich faced off against Union Berlin after the league returned to play from the coronavirus pandemic season suspension.

Bayern Munich beat Union Berlin on Union's home pitch 2-0 with goals by Robert Lewandowski and Benjamin Pavard.

When asked about playing in stadiums without fans, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer said, “The minutes are always very long at a game without fans,” after shutting out Union Berlin.
