Division II softball’s Arkansas Tech has implemented a new role on its coaching staff for the 2024 season, and it has four legs and barks.

That’s right, the Golden Suns have gone out of their way to list a dog on the coaching staff this season.

Meet “Mr. Wilson,” who is listed on the school’s official roster as an “Emotional Support Coach.” He even has his own page on the program’s website.

It may be tough to find a better assistant coach in college athletics than Mr. Wilson, who keeps vibes high for the Golden Suns as the team competes at home and on the road. Mr. Wilson has helped Arkansas Tech jump out to a 7–2 start to the college softball season, which includes a win over the No. 11 school in Division II, Central Oklahoma.

Mr. Wilson shall garner all credit for success and no blame for failure, and is entitled to plenty of head pats, belly scratches and treats as he roots the team to victory this season.
