Brittany Mahomes Makes Her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Debut
Brittany Mahomes makes her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue debut in the 60th anniversary edition of the annual publication, out on newsstands this week. The entrepreneur, who is the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was photographed by Derek Kettela in Belize.
Mahomes has always been herself, regardless of how big or small the spotlight on her has been. She is one of the founders of a NWSL soccer club, the Kansas City Current, and a co-owner of the only soccer stadium that is solely dedicated to professional women’s sports.
She spoke to SI Swimsuit about the importance of CPKC Stadium:
“These women deserve to feel important and have their own facility so that they can perform at their best,” Mahomes said about the Stadium, which opened in March in time for the start of the NWSL season. “I hope this sets the bar for women’s sports everywhere and other cities continue to build around women’s sports. Just like young boys get to dream of playing football at stadiums like Arrowhead, I want young girls everywhere to aspire to play at stadiums like CPKC,” she said while on the set of her rookie photo shoot.
Mahomes, who played college soccer at UT-Tyler, spent a post-graduate season with UMF Afturelding in Iceland. While overseas, she listened to who she was and learned that playing professionally wasn’t for her. She found she preferred the preparation and training aspects of the sport, sharing workouts online for others.
Later, she took her love for soccer to the next level when she invested in the NWSL team in Kansas City. Her husband followed, joining the ownership group in 2023.
Now, she’s blazing a path with SI Swimsuit and joining an elite cast of models. The 2024 roster includes Kate Upton, Chrissy Teigen and Olivia Dunne.
“As a girl from Tyler, Texas, who only really knew sports, never in a million years did I think I’d be in [the SI Swimsuit Issue],” says Mahomes. “I’m just so grateful for this opportunity.”
The example she hopes to set is simple: Be you, in whatever unique way that manifests.
“People are going to love you or hate you, but finding your values and what makes you ‘you’ to be the best version of yourself is what really matters,” adds Mahomes. “Whether that’s health and wellness, being a great wife or mom, or career goals, being the best version of you is the most important thing you can be.”
