New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Says NBA, NFL, and MLB Teams Can Begin and Return to Spring Training

As long as they follow the proper health protocols, NY pro sports have been given the go-ahead to begin spring training

Video Transcript:

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Sunday that New York state sports teams can begin spring training as long as teams follow the appropriate health protocols.

Cuomo said in his briefing, "I believe that sports that can come back without having people in the stadiums, without having people in the area - do it. Work out the economics if you can."

This means that NFL training camps will be permitted, though as far as the NFL goes, Cuomo's announcement only affects the Bills, as they're the only team that has training camp in New York State. The Giants and Jets both have their training camps and stadium in New Jersey.

The Yankees and Mets will also likely be able to begin training as MLB looks to restart its season. The NBA is still working on a plan to have all teams resume play at Disney’s ESPN Wide World Of Sports Complex in Florida.
