Gladys Knight and the Pips. Hall and Oates. Captain and Tenille.

None of those go together as well as Serena Williams and karaoke.

PerthNow.com reports that after winning her 47th career title in Brisbane last week, Williams and her team hit up a Chinese and Vietnamese food restaurant in Woolloongabba -- I admit, I'm providing this level of detail just so I could type "Woolloongabba" -- and she hopped on stage to perform some impromptu karaoke, singing Elton John's "Your Song."

The best part of the story has to be this tidbit. I've always wondered what sort of meta-moment you might have if you were at a club with Williams and Kanye West's "Golddigger" came on. Thanks to this eye-witness account, now I know.

"At one stage they played Gold Digger by Kanye West and when he sings the lyric 'she gonna have a ass like Serena' the whole room erupted in cheers and wolf whistles."

"Serena was trying to keep a straight face but she didn't do a very good job."

Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive."
