Fashion hits and misses at the BNP Paribas Open

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- While most of the players have shown up to the BNP Paribas Open in their leftover kits from the Australian Open, a small handful of players have debuted some new spring looks that are worth noting, for better or for worse.

Here are the ones we'd love to see again and a few we'd rather not.

Hits

Ana Ivanovic: While the rest of the Adidas stable was wearing their bathed-in-yellow Australian Open rehashes, Ivanovic looked fresh and seasonal as she took the court in a baby blue and yellow number. A nod to the upcoming Easter season? Secretly rooting for UCLA? Just wearing what her company gives her? Who's to say. (Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)

Roger Federer: If yellow was the color of Australia, orange seems to be the way to go for the spring season. Federer has two kits going here in Indian Wells, one in blue and orange and another in orange and white. He's looked crisp in the orange. (Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)

Maria Sharapova: The pictures may not capture it, but Sharapova's neon accents have been popping here and this is a much better ensemble than her yellow number from the Australian Open. (Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)

Marion Bartoli: Lotto has done well by Bartoli by finally shortening the hem on her dresses and giving her more shape. It's a complete upgrade from her days of being unsponsored, when she was wearing off-the-rack Nike that was always unflattering. (Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)

Svetlana Kuznetsova: Call me crazy, but I just really dig Kuznetsova's weird Michael Jordan rip-off logo from Qiaodan. It makes no sense, but if you don't look too closely, it actually looks like someone hitting a lefty forehand. In all its weirdness, it suits her. (Mark J. Terrill/AP)

Misses

Jelena Jankovic: Love the old-school sweater look, especially early in the tournament when temperatures dipped in the 50s. But unless that skirt was made up of receipts, there's no reason Jelena should look like she's been put through a shredder. (Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)
