Croatian media report that Ivo Karlovic is in a Miami hospital after contracting viral meningitis.
Croatian newspaper Večernji list confirmed the reports with Karlovic's family. Karlovic's sister Ana issued a statement to correct initial reports that Karlovic had suffered a mild stroke.
The paper reports that Karlovic was initially released from the hospital but was readmitted after falling ill again.
The 34-year-old Karlovic, who at 6-foot-10 is the tallest man to play on the ATP Tour, last played at the Sarasota Challenger two weeks ago, where he lost to 238th-ranked Denys Molchanov in the first round.
He sent out a colorful "it can only get better" tweet afterward:

Karlovic hasn't played since then, withdrawing from both Savannah and next week's Tallahassee Challenger due to "illness."
