Ana Ivanovic splits with coach Nemanja Kontic after a year
Former No. 1 Ana Ivanovic has decided to split with coach Nemanja Kontic. According to a statement on her official website, Kontic's contract expired after Wimbledon and after extensive discussion the two mutually decided not to renew it. Ivanovic is looking to appoint a new coach shortly.
Ivanovic hired Kontic last year after Wimbledon when she split with her previous coach Nigel Sears. Over the last year Ivanovic has credited Kontic for having a more relaxed attitude towards her tennis, and that mentality has helped produce one of the best seasons of Ivanovic's career. Back up to No. 11 in the WTA rankings, Ivanovic has won three titles this season and leads the tour with 39 match wins.
The coaching carousel is anticipated to be spinning over the next few weeks, as players now have time to reassess their teams and make changes before the summer hard court season. Leading that charge, No. 2 Li Na split with her coach Carlos Rodriguez after losing in the third round at Wimbledon.
