Li Na gives birth to baby girl

Former tennis player Li Na gave birth to a daughter on Tuesday.

Former Chinese tennis player Li Na gave birth to a daughter on Wednesday (in China), she announced on Weibo.

The baby's name is Alisa.

Li Na, 33, announced her retirement from tennis last September and ended her career ranked No. 6 in the world by the WTA. In January, she revealed at the Australian Open that she and her husband Dennis were expecting their first child.

Li Na won two Grand Slam titles over her career and was ranked as high as No. 2 on the WTA Tour.

"Dennis and I introduce our Alisa. We are very happy and love her," she wrote in Chinese in her announcement.
