In this week's episode of the SI Tennis Beyond the Baseline Podcast, Sports Illustrated executive editor and host Jon Wertheim talks with former pro James Blake.

Ahead of the NYC Marathon on Sunday, former pro James Blake talks about his training and preparation for the 26.2 mile race and how Caroline Wozniacki inspired him to run. He also discusses why he finally decided to run in 2015 and how people can contribute to the charity he is running for, the James Blake Foundation, created in honor of his late father. Wertheim and Blake also discuss how the marathon figures into his mistaken arrest incident from Sept. 9. The 35-year-old also addresses the excessive force incident, how it has effected his life and what he is doing now to spread awareness for others.

The pair also talks about Blake's current relationship with tennis and his plans for the future, including ambitions to create a tennis academy in the San Diego area. Blake talks about the young American juniors—Taylor Fritz, Reilly Opelka and others—who are showing promise as they make the transition to the ATP Tour over the next few years.
