Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have withdrawn from next week’s Rogers Cup, they announced individually on Tuesday.
Federer, the world No. 3, and Nadal, the world No. 4, will not participate in this summer’s first Masters Series event, joining Wimbledon 2016 champ Andy Murray who withdrew on Monday citing fatigue. Both Federer and Nadal are scheduled to play in the Olympics next month.

Federer, 34, wrote in a Facebook post that he planned to “take more time” after his Wimbledon semifinals run to rest.
Nadal, 30, has not played since withdrawing from the French Open and said in a statement that his injured wrist was not well enough for him to compete.
Federer is a two-time Rogers Cup champ (2004, 2006), and missed last year’s event to rest for the US Open. Nadal has won the event three times, most recently in 2013.
