Two of the top left handed players face off in the Round of 16 at the U.S. Open on Sunday, as World No. 2 Angelique Kerber takes on two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova. They have split their previous eight meetings with Kerber taking the last two. So who has the edge?

Kvitova has been the more aggressive of the two and tends to play a higher risk game. Kerber tends to play more conservatively and looks to pick her spots to attack. The one big area of concern for Kvitova has been her serving when under pressure. Kerber has saved eight of the 12 break points she’s faced while Kvitova has been broken more than half the time her opponents have gotten a break point chance (nine breaks in 17 chances). In a matchup of such evenly matched players, it’s often the performance on a few big points that makes the difference.
