Alison Riske Upsets No. 1 Ashleigh Barty at Wimbledon
Alison Riske reaches her first ever Grand Slam quarterfinal by upsetting No. 1 ranked Ashleigh Barty.
American Alison Riske stormed back from being a set down to oust No. 1 ranked Ashleigh Barty to reach her first ever Grand Slam quarterfinal.
The unseeded and 55th-ranked Riske moved on to the final eight with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory on Court No. 2 after being a set down in what got "Manic Monday" off to a rousing start.
Riske had 30 winners and two aces in beating a No. 1 ranked for the first time.
Barty's loss snapped a 15-match winning streak in her first tournament since claiming the No. 1 spot in the WTA rankings from Naomi Osaka.
Barty won the French Open and Birmingham earlier this year.
Riske will now face the winner of the Serena Williams-Carla Suarez Navarro match in the semifinals.
