ESPN announced on Tuesday that Serena Williams will host the 2024 ESPYs on July 11.

This is the first time the 23-time Grand Slam champion will host the sports awards ceremony. Williams has won 25 ESPY awards, including favorite female athlete and favorite female tennis player a multitude of times.

“I couldn’t be more excited to host The ESPYS,” Williams said, via a press release. “This is a dream come true for me, and something I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember. It has been a sensational year for sports and an unprecedented one for female athletes. I can’t wait to celebrate everyone on-stage in July.”

Her ESPYs hosting debut will follow the premiere of her new ESPN+ series titled In the Arena: Serena Williams, which comes out July 10. It is an eight-episode series highlighting parts of her tennis career. Williams retired from tennis in September 2022 at the U.S. Open.
