This Year's Tennis Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Highlighted by Conchita Martinez and Goran Ivanišević Is Likely to Be Postponed

Conchita Martinez and Goran Ivanišević were both due to have an induction ceremony into the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island this summer.

Like a lot of sports, tennis holds its Hall of Fame inductions in the summer. The Tennis Hall of Fame is in Newport, Rhode Island, a great place, and I'd encourage anyone to go there.

But unfortunately, the Rhode Island governor, Gina Raimondo, has said this summer there won't be large gatherings and that will have an impact on the Tennis Hall of Fame induction. Look for that to be postponed until 2021.

There's also a concurrent ATP event that goes along with the induction weekend. It's unlikely that will happen as well. Another domino to fall.

I think it will be interesting to look at other sports as well. Will baseball have Cooperstown? Will the NFL have Canton and will the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass be able to have a ceremony? Again, a lot of fallout in sports from coronavirus and Hall of Fame ceremonies is something that we hadn't really talked much about. But summertime is coming. Those events have big decisions to make as well.
