Novak Djokovic has tested positive for Coronavirus

Djokovic and his wife have tested positive after the top-ranked tennis star took part in an exhibition series he organized in Serbia and Croatia.

Djokovic was criticized for bringing players from other countries to play in his tournament, especially as the tournament observed no social distancing measures.

Of the tournament, Djokovic said: “It was all born with a philanthropic idea, to direct all raised funds towards people in need and it warmed my heart to see how everybody strongly responded to this. We organized the tournament at the moment when the virus has weakened, believing that the conditions for hosting the Tour had been met.”

Djokovic also came under fire after saying he would not take an eventual coronavirus vaccine even if it became mandatory for travel.

Other tennis players that have tested positive are Viktor Troicki and his pregnant wife, Grigor Dimitrov, and Borna Coric.

The third stage of the event, scheduled for next week in Bosnia, has been canceled.
