How to Watch Figueroa vs. Lipinets: Stream Boxing Live, TV Channel

Former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa Jr. had to shift to a new opponent after Adrien Broner withdrew from title eliminator bout.

The main event in Hollywood, Florida, for Saturday night's boxing card changed abruptly earlier this week, but former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa Jr. (28-2-1, 19 knockouts) will step into the ring as scheduled. But instead of a WBC super-lightweight title eliminator bout with fellow American Adrien Broner, Figueroa will square off with Sergey Lipinets (16-2-1, 12 KOs). Broner withdrew on Monday, citing mental-health concerns. Lipinets held the interim IBF title in the division until he was knocked out by Jaron Ennis in April 2021. The 32-year-old Figueroa hasn't fought in 15 months and has lost his last two bouts, including a corner stoppage in his last fight.

Figueroa debuted in 2008 and claimed the interim lightweight title in the WBC with a unanimous decision over Nihito Arakawa in 2013. He solidified the title by taking a split decision over Jerry Belmontes nine months later. In July 2019, he took his first loss, a unanimous decision to Yordenis Ugas at Las Vegas. Against Abel Ramos in his last fight, Figueroa's corner stopped the fight after the sixth round.

Lipinets hasn't won in his last two fights, either. He fought to a majority-decision draw with Custio Clayton in October 2020 before the knockout at the hands of Ennis last year.

There are three fights on the undercard, including Roger Gutierrez defending the WBA super-featherweight title against Hector Garcia and Alberto Puello taking on Batyr Akhmedov for the WBA super-lightweight belt.
