In the first Super Bowl featuring teams that had met in the regular season, Roger Staubach threw for 183 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys 27-10 victory over Denver,.

Randy White, shown here with Charlie Waters, disrupted Denver's defense so much that White and teammate Harvey Martin were named co-MVPs, the first time in league history that a defensive lineman earned the accolade.

Tony Dorsett didn't become the fulltime starter at running back until the 10th game of the season, but led the team in rushing and was its third leading receiver. He ran for a game-high 66 yards in the Super Bowl and scored one touchdown.

Dorsett charged into the NFC Championship game against the Vikings on New Years Day, 1978.

In his 29 seasons with the Cowboys, Tom Landry compiled a 270-178-6 record, won two Super Bowls (1972 and '78), five NFC titles and 13 divisional titles.

Golden Richards' 29-yard scoring pass from fullback Robert Newhouse gave the Cowboys a 27-10 lead and put Super Bowl XII out of reach.
