Super Bowl Champions: 1983 Raiders
In his only Super Bowl appearance, Marcus Allen ran for a then-record 191 yards and scored two touchdowns as the Raiders defeated the defending Super Bowl champion Washington Redskins 38-9.
One of Allen's 20 carries was a record-setting 74-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, which helped him become only the third Heisman Trophy winner to also win Super Bowl MVP honors.
Jim Plunkett completed 16 of 25 passes for 172 yards and one touchdown in the Black Sunday victory over the Redskins. In one key series he completed a 50-yard pass to Cliff Branch and hooked up with Branch again two plays later on a 12-yard scoring pass.
Though he threatened to behead Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann, Lyle Alzado went sackless in Super Bowl XVIII, but he did help hold Washington to only nine points. Over the next 20 Super Bowls, only the 2001 Baltimore Ravens gave up fewer points.
Though he led the league in rushing touchdowns with 24 in 1983, John Riggins scored only one against the Raiders in Super Bowl XVIII.
