Desmond Howard became the first special teams player to win Super Bowl MVP after his 99-yard kickoff return turned out to be the game-clinching touchdown in the Packers 35-21 victory. He also had 90 yards in punt returns.

The Packers didn't have a Pro Bowl running back, but got plenty of production out of Dorsey Levens and Edgar Bennett (34), who led the team in rushing with 899 yards.

Brett Favre won his second consecutive league MVP award after throwing for 3,899 yards and 39 touchdowns during the regular season. He capped off the year by throwing for two touchdowns and running for another score as the Packers won their first league title since Super Bowl II.
