Super Bowl Champions: 1999 Rams

On the final play of the game and one that might have enabled Tennessee to tie the score, Rams linebacker Mike Jones tackled Kevin Dyson a yard short of the end zone to preserve a 23-16 victory.

A former NFL Europe quarterback who got promoted when Rams starter Trent Green was injured in the preseason, Kurt Warner had a storybook season in 1999-2000. Not only did he win the regular season MVP award after throwing for 4,353 yards, 41 touchdowns and just 13 interceptions, but he also was named Super Bowl MVP after completing 24 of 45 passes for 414 yards and two touchdowns.

The first team in Super Bowl history to not score a touchdown on five consecutive trips to the red zone, the Rams finally converted in the third quarter when Torry Holt caught a nine-yard scoring pass from Kurt Warner.

The Rams had one of the most versatile backs in league history in Marshall Faulk, only the second back to ever gain 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season. His 2,429 yards from scrimmage (1,381 rushing, 1,048 receiving) set a single season record.

The Rams were loaded at receiver with Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt and Az-Zahir Hakim. Bruce (80) scored the game-winner in Super Bowl XXXIV with a 73-yard touchdown.

It took Dick Vermeil a while to get back to a Super Bowl (he had taken the Eagles to Super Bowl XV), but this time he came out victorious as the Rams won their first Super Bowl.
