Defensive lineman Neil Smith recovered a Miami fumble and returned it 79 yards for his first postseason touchdown, driving the Broncos' lead to 38-3 and giving Denver its fifth-consecutive postseason win.

Rod Smith had five receptions for 152 yards as Denver topped Atlanta 34-19 to win its second-straight Super Bowl. Quarterback John Elway hooked up with Smith for an 80-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, marking a Super Bowl record.

Head coach Mike Shanahan took over at the helm of the Broncos in 1995. In just his second season he had the team in the playoffs, and topped that feat with Super Bowl titles in his third (1997) and fourth (1998) seasons.

John Elway and the 1998 Broncos made the 1972 Dolphins very nervous. Denver ran through the first 13 weeks of the season undefeated before the New York Giants handed the Broncos their first loss, 20-16, Dec. 13 at Giants Stadium.

The Denver Broncos made the Mile High Salute famous during their Super Bowl-winning seasons of 1997 and '98 by celebrating touchdowns with the signature move.

Wide receiver Ed McCaffrey had five receptions for 72 yards in the Broncos' Super Bowl victory over Atlanta. He and receiver Rod Smith gave defenses headaches all season long, not only with their receptions but also by blocking for the Broncos' running game.
