Most anticipated Nintendo Switch games coming in 2024

These are the best and most exciting Nintendo Switch games confirmed to launch in 2024

The Nintendo Switch is entering its seventh year on the market and everyone is eagerly anticipating the arrival of a successor console – Switch 2, maybe? – but that doesn’t mean the humble Switch is dead yet. Even if we ignore games that we’ve seen nothing of, like Metroid Prime 4, 2024 has a bunch of Nintendo Switch games that we’re incredibly excited to play.

That’s right, the Switch isn’t done, even after Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom stole the show in 2023. In this list we’re breaking down the Nintendo Switch games we’ve seen that are going to be great in 2024.

Unlikely Nintendo Switch 2 rumors claim September 2024 release date

Mario vs. Donkey Kong

A great puzzle game getting a much-needed revisit.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a classic puzzle game, and a new Nintendo Switch adventure is set to release at a budget price on February 12, 2024. Visually it looks better than Mario vs. Donkey Kong ever has before, and as long as the puzzle gameplay and level design is as strong as ever, this will be a satisfying distraction until something bigger lands on the console.

Princess Peach: Showtime!

Princess Peach: Showtime! is set to launch March 22, 2024. Right alongside Rise of the Ronin and Dragon’s Dogma II, but if you only care about Switch games, you don’t need to worry about those. Showtime is Peach’s first leading role since the Nintendo DS days, and features Peach donning a variety of costumes that grant her new powers and playstyles in order to save the show. Multiple shows, in fact. Exciting stuff!

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time

One of the best upcoming Level-5 games.

Earlier this year we saw the closure of the Fantasy Life Online mobile game – though I wouldn’t blame you if you never noticed. The Fantasy Life series has never been a breakout success, but it had a few dedicated fans. I have high hopes that The Girl Who Steals Time – the first truly original Fantasy Life release since 2016 – will be a return to form on Nintendo Switch, and hopefully time travel mechanics can make the formula feel fresh. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is set to launch in Summer 2024.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD

A second chance at life for this 3DS gem.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 (known as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon in the US) was one of the best 3DS games, and it’s now getting a HD release for the Nintendo Switch due to release Summer 2024. The fantastic ScareScraper multiplayer mode also makes a return, and that by itself will make Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD well worth playing.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

The best Mario RPG, hands-down / Nintendo

Intelligent Systems is returning to the most celebrated Mario RPG of all time, and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is coming to Nintendo Switch with a full remake in 2024. The small bits of footage we’ve seen so far look gorgeous, completely revitalizing the game’s art style. Release may still be several months away, but this is one of my personal most anticipated games of the year.
