Most anticipated PS5 games coming in 2024

We think these are the biggest and most exciting games coming to PS5 in 2024

2023 had some of the biggest gaming releases of recent memory – it was genuinely astonishing how many great games were playable on every current platform, but not least the PS5. Spider-Man 2, God of War: Ragnarok DLC, Final Fantasy XVI, and even Baldur’s Gate 3 was inadvertently a console-exclusive for a few months there. But 2023 is over now, and we’re looking forward to 2024.

2024 just might be able to keep up with 2023, as there are some truly huge blockbuster games due to land on PS5 in the next 12 months. Yes, 2025 will have GTA 6 and Monster Hunter Wilds, but there’s still plenty to look forward to, and some of these are coming very soon. These are our most anticipated PS5 games of 2024.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Yuffie
Yuffie was great in Intergrade, so hopes are high for FF7 Rebirth / Square Enix

The second part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy is coming February 29, 2024, and I’m all-in. Final Fantasy VII Remake was a great start, and while it was paced far too slowly with level design that kept HDD load times in mind, FF7 Rebirth should fix all of that. We’ve already seen the party explore a large open-world environment, and this looks to be just a small slice of what we’ll get in the full game. It’s not for everyone, but FF7R’s excellent combat means I’m happy to come back for whatever’s next. Make sure to read our full FF7 Rebirth preview.

Rise of the Ronin

Rise of the Ronin is a bold new direction for Team Ninja.

Team Ninja’s next big action game is landing on PS5 March 22, 2024, and it’s definitely one of the most exciting releases of the year. This should be considered a true follow-up to the Nioh series. Wo-Long was just a sidestory, this promises to be a lengthy and challenging action RPG. If you loved Nioh or other Souls-inspired “masocore” games, make sure to play Rise of the Ronin.

Dragon’s Dogma II

Dragon’s Dogma II is launching on every current-gen platform, but let’s face it, most of the players will probably be on PS5. Dragon’s Dogma II is easily the most exciting game of the first half of the year for me – yes, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Rise of the Ronin will be great, but Dragon’s Dogma II just might fix me when it launches on March 22, 2024. That’s going to be a busy day. For more, read through my full Dragon's Dogma II preview.

Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2 remake could make or break the series.

Silent Hill 2’s full remake from Bloober Team is due in 2024, and while we don’t have any release date details, we’re tentatively excited. Silent Hill 2 is a stone-cold classic, and a remake that does it justice could be one of the best games of the year – perhaps even the generation. But making a game that good, while staying faithful enough to appease hardcore fans, is a very fine line. The pressure is on, Bloober Team – good luck!

Metal Gear Solid Delta

Yet another Konami release we just don’t know much about right now, this is a full remake of the legendary Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, titled MGS Delta. Why Delta? We’re not sure yet, but we’re hoping that the game will explain everything. This is the first game in the Metal Gear franchise we’ve seen since Hideo Kojima’s departure from the company (excluding the spin-off Metal Gear Survive), so if this game isn’t incredible, hopes for the future of MGS are going to die off entirely. But, it just might live up to all expectations and be a masterpiece. It’s a big year for Konami, and just might determine the publisher’s future strategy.
