Baldur’s Gate 3: every romance option ranked from worst to best
If you’re playing Baldur’s Gate 3, then you’ve already considered it: you’ve thought about which character you’d like to tempt into the bedroom. It’s okay, you don’t have to lie to me, we’ve all been there, and the game even encourages it. We may have complained that BG3 is too horny, but patches have since toned that down.
In this list we’re ranking every potential romance option in Baldur’s Gate 3 – even those cheeky flings – from the worst, to the very best. The criteria? My opinions, as a straight cis male. Sorry in advance.
Many of the romance options are your party members, and you can recruit them all with our guide on how to recruit every companion in BG3. In this list you’ll find every character you can romance and bring into the bedroom in BG3, listed from the worst to the best. And yes, you can have multiple romances in BG3.
The Guardian (The Worst Romance Option in BG3)
This might seem like an attractive option, especially since you get to design your Guardian, but uh… trust me on this, when it comes to this moment, you might rethink things. For more to chew on, read through our guide on who is the Guardian.
Halsin
The bear? Really? I know it smell crazy in there. If you’re into that, you might be one of the people that bought the game for a bear love scene.
Astarion
Astarion is a vampire, as I’m sure you’re aware, and he’s a bit tortured. Also incredibly forward. Personally the idea of bloodletting during sex is, like, low on my list of fetishes, so I’m gonna have to skip this one.
Nym and Sorn
Fancy a wild fling with a pair of Drow Elf twins? Well, Nym and Sorn can certainly offer that at Sharess Caress, if you’re interested. No visuals, but it’s really more of a vibe anyway.
Wyll
Wyll is yet another sad boy under the thumb of a woman far more powerful than him. You can brighten up his day by flirting and maybe doing a few other things, but he’ll act like he’s committed a great sin the next morning. Ruins the mood a bit.
Gale
Gale is one hell of a charmer, but he’ll spend an awful lot of time talking about his ex-girlfriend, the goddess of magic, or whatever. He’s willing to die for her, even. My dude, get over it, move on, with someone other than me.
Naoise Nallinto
Another business-minded individual found at Sharess Caress, Naoise will proposition you after you save her from a Mind Flayer encounter. I mean hey, that’s sure to do it for someone.
Mizora
Here’s where things get funky. Mizora is naughty, naughty as in bad, and bad as in… actually evil. But that’s not necessarily a negative, right? Utilize the souls of the cursed to get off with Mizora.
Lae’zel
Okay, hear me out: Lae’zel is curt, to put it nicely, blunt is generous… rude might be more applicable in some situations. But she’s sensitive at heart – even if she only really knows how to communicate with violence. Spend some time with Lae’zel and you’ll find that she’s actually a sweet soul, that will likely rock your world. If you’re tempted, read through our Lae’zel romance guide.
Minthara
Another potentially “evil” choice, Minthara is difficult to even get in your party. But if you are enamoured by this Drow, and do pretty much everything she says while protecting her life, she’ll join your party, and perhaps even join you in bed. We all like a bad girl though, don’t we? If you do, you should read our Minthara romance guide.
Karlach
Talk about getting hot under the collar – Karlach is quite literally burning up constantly, just barely withstanding the heat of the Infernal Engine within her heart. Of course, if you take her to Dammon the blacksmith with some Infernal Iron, you might be able to repair her heart enough to let you in.
Haarlep
Okay, wait, hold on: this is interesting. Raphael would, of course, only have sex with someone as beautiful as himself, right? The ultimate narcissist has the ultimate bedtime playmate waiting in the House of Hope bedroom at all times, and he’ll proposition you. Well, as long as it’s not with the actual Raphael, right? Make sure to check our guide on how to enter the House of Hope in BG3 if you're interested!
Shadowheart (The Best Romance Option in BG3)
When men are being aloof and moody it’s annoying, but when a goth girl does it? Shadowheart might not want to open up at first, but if you spend time bonding with her, she can become the best relationship partner in the game – in my humble opinion. Loyal and dedicated, Shadowheart will stay by your side as long as you stay by hers. Hold me while I swoon. While you’re holding me, read through our Shadowheart romance guide.
