Assassin’s Creed: Mirage tips I wish I knew before starting
Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is out now, and this smaller, budget-price approach to the Assassin’s Creed universe shouldn’t be missed by fans of the series. This game follows Basim, whom fans will remember from AC: Valhalla, as he goes on his journey to become a reputable and capable assassin in Baghdad.
If you’re just jumping into the game, or you’re about to start soon, you should read through these tips. We’ve been playing AC Mirage for a little while now, and we know that the game would’ve been that much easier if we knew these tips going in – even dedicated AC fans might find something here that will help in future.
Cartography lessons
You shouldn’t ignore the Cartographer. Interacting with the Cartographer will have them unveil collectible locations scattered across the map. Unlocking all of these item locations early will give you an advantage, as you can potentially collect them as you go, instead of backtracking to areas you’ve already visited.
Easy pickpocket
In the options under Gameplay and Combat & Stealth you can find the Guaranteed Pickpocket option, which will replace the pickpocket QTE with a simple, single button press, making the act of lifting coin purses far easier. The QTE isn’t much fun anyway, so you won’t miss out on much by activating this, though the game’s “intended difficulty” includes the QTE.
Smoked out
Smoke bombs are always useful, especially here in Mirage. Dropping a smoke bomb will create a cloud for you to hide in, and even in the middle of combat it can be used to go back into a “hidden” state where you can cheekily assassinate all of the soldiers that thought they could surround you. In a tough spot, this will force enemies to ease up while you thin their numbers.
Knife solutions
Throwing knives can solve a lot of problems, especially if you find yourself busy at the time. Breakable items, including door bolts (from inside), can be broken at range with a thrown knife. Sounds obvious, but it just might save you when you need to quickly open an escape route or bring some hanging items down on enemies.
Enkidu overhead
Enkidu, your eagle, is pretty much essential throughout the game, just as it has been in past AC games, but it’s all too easy to forget about the wee creature, so here’s your reminder. Enkidu can not only scout out areas that you’re stealthily infiltrating but can also pinpoint locations of treasures and collectibles. Sending Enkidu ahead of you to see what you’re getting into is pretty much always a good idea.
