Everything new coming to Apex Legends Season 18 Resurrection
A brand new season of Apex Legends is on the horizon, and Apex Legends Season 18 is coming with a bunch of new stuff for all players to try out while fighting it out in the battle royale, or even the smaller objective-based games that are included in this season. If you want a good chance of winning, you should know what you’re in store for ahead of time.
In this guide we’re breaking down everything you need to know about Apex Legends Season 18. There’s no new playable Legend this season, but Revenant is undergoing a major rework, called Revenant Resurrection, and that’s on top of the usual map changes and balance adjustments you might expect. Scroll down below for everything you need before dropping into Apex Legends Season 18.
Revenant Resurrection
In what might be the biggest overhaul any character in Apex Legends has ever received, Revenant’s near-obsolete moveset has been totally switched out for all-new Passive, Tactical, and Ultimate abilities. Revenant might as well be a totally new character, and he’ll be available for all players to use throughout Season 18. For everything you need to know, read through our breakdown on how Revenant is changing forever.
Broken Moon Mixtape
Broken Moon is being added to the Mixtape game modes this season. You’ll be able to play Gun Game and Team Deathmatch at The Core, a map that focuses on a close-quarters combat experience. You’ll just have to play this for yourself to see how these game modes shake out in The Core.
Getting rid of Ranked rats
When the Respawn team gave us a preview of the upcoming season and explained their approach to each of the new changes, Ranked was clearly a point of contention. Any dedicated Ranked player will tell you about the rats – players that hide until the final circle in order to get points without playing – and how much they ruin the game for the teams that are actually duking it out.
Next season, climbing tiers in Ranked has been made a bit tougher with lower LP rewards across the board, and you can lose more LP if you’re in Diamond rank – getting into Masters won’t be so easy. Onto the rats, which were addressed explicitly in the presentation: a new Minimum Elimination Bonus will make aggressive play more rewarding, with LP being given to players that jump into the fray and get kills.
On top of that, rings move more often, resulting in shorter games, and early ring damage has been boosted, which should mean that rats will find it much more difficult to find a place to camp out. Less LP overall, no Elimination Bonus, and more aggressive rings should make being a rat more difficult than ever.
Weapons change, but not the Nemesis
The Charge Rifle is receiving some of the biggest changes: it’s no longer a hitscan weapon, it will be a projectile-based weapon including bullet-drop. Magazines are back for it too, and each shot consumes a single bullet. It’s still the most-effective long-range sniper, according to the devs, and will deal more damage the further away a target is, but getting those shots will be tougher thanks to bullet drop.
Selectfire is back for the Prowler, and the Hemlock is back as floor loot. All SMGs are receiving headshot multiplier reduction and a strafe speed nerf. This is primarily to let shotguns have more spotlight, so the Mastiff, for example, is getting a tighter bullet spread to make it more effective.
The Disruptor Rounds are back too, and will be equippable to the Alternator and the Peacekeeper. The Peacekeeper! Despite this attachment, this base PK power has barely been changed. To finish things off, the devs let us know that, despite the fact that the Nemesis has been seen as incredibly powerful, it’s not receiving any significant changes – it is intended to be a top-tier weapon, and will continue to be.
Dive Trails be gone!
Dive Trails have been totally ditched, and that seems to include the Legacy Dive Trails you might’ve earned from the first couple of seasons of Ranked games. This is to stop players with Dive Trails being targeted on drop and getting punched out. Instead, new Battle Frames will be available for Diamond, Masters, and Predator rank players. This’ll allow you to show off your rank without becoming a target as the game begins. Of course, the Banner Frame rewards will only come into play starting Season 19, you’ve just got to start earning them now.
