Getting an Ikran to fly through the skies is a huge boon, but sometimes you want to stay with your feet on the ground but still travel fast. That’s where the Direhorse comes in, another type of mount in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Once you’re far enough through the story, you can hop on the back of one of these to traverse the land much quicker than running.

It’s not easy to get one though, so we’ll explain how to get a Direhorse mount in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. We have more tips and tricks in store if you check out the things I wish I knew before starting Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Before you can get a Direhorse you’ll need to progress the main story to the point where you have access to the Upper Plains area. From there, the first mission you’ll do in that area is called The Wandering Clan, and that mission teaches you how to tame a Direhorse.

However, unlike your Ikran, Direhorses are not permanent mounts, and you cannot summon them whenever you want. Instead, whenever you want to use a Direhorse you’ll need to tame a new one – thankfully they are quite common in the Upper Plains.

Once you’ve done it in the quest, all you need to do is quietly and carefully approach a Direhorse, press the button prompt to soothe it, and then slowly approach it until you’ve tamed it, at which point you can hop on and ride.
