Baldur’s Gate 3 Githyanki Egg: what to do with the Gith egg in BG3
Contents
When you start exploring the Mountain Pass on the way to the Githyanki Creché, you will almost certainly come across an older woman by the name of Lady Esther. She has one task for you: acquire a Githyanki Egg from the nearby creché and give it to her so she can raise a peaceful member of the Gith race.
She seems to have good enough intentions, but is that enough to justify letting her walk away with one of the Gith’s young?
In this guide we’ll break down exactly how you can acquire the Githyanki Egg for Lady Esther, and whether or not you actually should in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Lady Esther location, Githyanki Egg quest start – BG3
To start the quest – or get your reward if you’ve already acquired a Githyanki Egg – you’ll need to meet with Lady Esther. She can be found just Northeast of the Trielta Crags fast-travel point, which you will have passed on the way to the Githyanki Creché.
Lady Esther will reward you for the retrieval of the egg, and she highly insinuates that you should basically steal it for her. Not a nice thing to do, but hey, it is an option.
Githyanki Egg location – BG3
As you will have probably guessed, the Githyanki Egg is in the Githyanki Creché. The nearest fast-travel point is Rosymorn Monastery, and Creché Y’llek can be found through the monastery. If you can’t find a way inside, just jump through the broken window near the main door.
The entrance to the creché is behind the door to the Monastery Basement at the back of the monastery.
You can find the Hatchery to the West of the creché, and inside you’ll meet Varsh Ko’kuu, Custodian of the Hatchery.
While you can just sneak around and steal the egg, you can also persuade Varsh to give it to you, as it hasn’t hatched along with the other eggs, and the general sentiment among the creché is to destroy it and move on. It’s also possible that you will come into conflict with the Githyanki over the course of the main quest line, in which case you can simply murder the entire creché and take the egg (relatively) free of consequence.
Either way, you can follow the West wall to get around to the egg while taking minimal Acid damage. There will be a lot of traps though, so be wary.
Githyanki Egg quest reward – BG3
In my case the reward was 438 gold. Not a paltry amount, but hardly a massive bump to my wallet.
Should you take the Githyanki Egg? Well, if you can persuade the Gith to gift it to you, or you happen to start a small war and just take the spoils, there’s no harm done, really. If you’re eager to keep the Gith friendly with you, though, then you should either persuade them, or leave this one be – unless you’re really confident about your Stealth chances.
