The 10 best Minecraft builds that will give you new build ideas for your world
When staring at a blank canvas, not everyone finds it easy to let their creativity run wild. Even if you have cool ideas, it’s often difficult to figure out how to implement them. It’s no different when standing in an empty Minecraft world; when you have infinite possibilities, working out what you want to do can be paralyzing.
Never fear though, as now Minecraft has passed 300 million sales, meaning there are more people than ever that you can draw inspiration from. To that end, we’ve gathered some of the biggest, boldest, and all-around coolest builds we could find to help give you ideas for your next Minecraft project.
The Cyberpunk Project
Despite Minecraft’s block palette leaning more towards low-tech medieval builds with all of the different wood and stone you can collect, it doesn’t stop people from making something far more futuristic. The Cyberpunk Project creates the dystopian megacity of your wildest dreams. It has gigantic skyscrapers packed in tight – all with unique architecture – several different districts with unique feels, and even a massive power farm in the ocean to keep it all running.
The Kingdom of Cipher
Out in the deserts of Minecraft, this kingdom stands as a bright and colorful beacon above all others. This gigantic palace is almost too much to take in all at once, with every inch of wall having a ridiculous amount of detail. The yellow sandstone makes the bright stained-glass murals all the prettier, with plenty of nooks and crannies to explore.
The Underground Kingdom
With Minecraft’s caves now sinking deeper than ever, it’s easy to create a whole world under the surface, which is exactly what the Underground Kingdom does. In gigantic caverns a great city lies, with dwarven structures as well as simple slums and volcanic structures. Such a huge build has all the room in the world to show off the many different kinds of architecture.
A Tribute to H.R. Giger
H.R. Giger was a surrealist artist who created a variety of strange pieces that mixed biological and mechanical elements in weird and slightly unsettling ways. After his unfortunate passing in 2014, a team of builders decided to pay tribute to him, creating this massive build that heavily invokes his style and recreates some of his greatest works.
Space Valkyria 3
One of the most legendary player-bases in Minecraft history, partly because of how beautiful it looks, but also because of the story behind it.
You see, not only was Space Valkyria 3 built entirely in survival mode but it was built on the infamous 2b2t server – the largest anarchy server in Minecraft. This is a server where there are no rules, hackers and greifers exist everywhere, and as soon as your base is discovered, it will be destroyed.
Space Valkyria 3’s creator, JacktheRippa, not only built the entire thing themselves, but they also managed to keep it hidden in a remote corner of The End for years before it was discovered and destroyed.
Crafting Azeroth
There have been plenty of ambitious Minecraft builds over the years that attempt to recreate iconic worlds and locations from fiction. One of the biggest is easily Crafting Azeroth which – as the name suggests – recreates the entirety of World of Warcraft’s Azeroth in Minecraft. It’s as detailed as you’d expect it to be with all sorts of cool little easter eggs for fans.
Novigrad
A wholly original medieval city like no other, Novigrad is one of the biggest and densest builds the game has ever seen. The castle alone would be a massive build worthy of this list, but instead it is just a tiny corner of this sprawling city. Interlocking buildings litter the landscape all the way down into the valleys and onto the coast, then back up to the top of the hills. You can look at it for hours and still notice new details everywhere.
Greenfield
When building in Minecraft, people’s minds often roam into the realm of fiction, building something out of a fantasy or sci-fi novel, but Greenfield is an attempt to create something more realistic with the world we know today. What the team has created is a sprawling urban metropolis based on American town design, and it’s still getting bigger by the day.
New Earth
Rather than creating something realistic, this is a project that took our real-life world map and turned it into something new. Created entirely by streamer RTGame and their community over three years, each area is filled with a wide variety of builds from lots of different people covering all sorts of different topics. Some are historical landmarks complete with educational facts, while some are just memes, but they’re all a sight to behold.
The Uncensored Library
While the Uncensored Library is certainly a visual spectacle, it’s what’s inside it that makes this truly incredible. Part of a movement for the freedom of press in countries with oppressive regimes, this library contains copies of thousands of works that are banned or blocked in countries like Russia, Saudi Arabia, and China. Since most of the countries featured allow their people free access to Minecraft, the Uncensored Library is a way to let residents of those countries access works they normally can’t.
