The 10 best Starfield mods you should download right now
While it’s not been out for very long just yet, Starfield already has its fair share of modders looking to tweak and improve aspects of the game. It may be too early in the game’s life to have crazy mods like Thomas the Tank Engine enemies and cheese raining from the sky, but there are some key improvements out there that PC players will want to install.
We’ve picked out the best Starfield mods currently available so you can take your game to the next level. Check out more tips and tricks in our Starfield walkthrough.
Starfield Upscaler
The lack of DLSS on the PC version of Starfield was a point of contention for many, as those running Nvidia RTX cards could’ve had a much smoother experience with the game if they had it. It didn’t take long for the community to fix it with Starfield Upscaler as you can now use this mod to enable DLSS, and adds an extra option for XeSS if non-Nvidia users want to try a different setting too.
StarUI
If you’ve ever modded a Bethesda RPG before, then you’ll be familiar with the types of mods that are always popular, and this style of UI mod is one of them. With StarUI you will get a much more compact and much more detailed inventory screen, letting you sort your items by just about every metric, as well as being quicker and easier to navigate using a mouse than the controller-friendly default UI.
Achievement Enabler
There’s no shame in using console commands in Starfield – if anything, Bethesda games encourage such behavior. However, in Starfield you’ll be punished for doing so by having your ability to earn achievements disabled. This is an easy fix though, as this Achievement Enabler mod will turn them back on for you.
Starfield Script Extender
This isn’t a flashy mod that adds anything to the game, but it’s a vital modding tool that you’ll need to install to do anything cool with the game. While most Starfield mods don’t require this Starfield Script Extender yet, if its equivalent mod for Skyrim is any indication, it will eventually become a mandatory download.
Jetpack Overhaul
Once you’ve worked out how to unlock Boostpacks in Starfield, you’ll quickly find that, though useful, they are somewhat limited. Rather than acting as a fully controllable jetpack, the boost is entirely fixed every time you press the button. This Jetpack Overhaul removes those limitations, letting you hold the jump button for a more controlled burst of momentum.
Easy Digipick
While the Starfield lockpicking minigame can be a rather fun puzzle, it’s not one everyone can easily wrap their heads around. Plus, it can often take a while and break up the flow of gameplay, so it’s understandable that some people would rather skip it. Easy Digipick will ensure that every lockpicking minigame is nice and simple, to the point where it isn’t even really a puzzle.
Starfield FOV
Field of View is important for PC players, especially in a first-person shooter, but Starfield doesn’t let you adjust it by default. It’s pretty easy to change your Starfield field of view yourself, but this Starfield FOV mod does it quickly and automatically.
Neutral LUTs
Many locations, weather effects, or even times of day in Starfield add specific color effects to your screen, which helps make the lighting feel more atmospheric and dynamic in the world. Unfortunately, they can make it much harder for some players to see when navigating the world. This Neutral LUTs mod simply turns those off, so you’re left with a clearer picture at all times.
Undelayed Menus
This is something you probably hadn’t even considered about Starfield, but once you install this mod you’ll never be able to play without it. All Undelayed Menus does is speed up the animations and transitions between menu screens. These waiting periods are usually less than a second long, but cutting them down further makes things feel so much nicer that you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.
Ship Builder Tolerance Tweaks
Building and customizing ships in Starfield is a lot of fun, but it can be frustrating at times. There are often points where it seems like a module should fit perfectly into a space, but the game says it won’t for seemingly no reason. Ship Builder Tolerance Tweaks adds a bit more leeway in these scenarios, making the overall building experience smoother and more enjoyable.
