Baldur's Gate 3: how to romance Shadowheart in BG3
What’s an RPG without the ability to romance everything in sight? All of your party in Baldur’s Gate 3 can be romanced, and there is no shortage of people falling for one of the first companions you’ll encounter, Shadowheart.
She’s a strong Cleric ally with no shortage of secrets – some of which are even a mystery to herself. With your help she’ll be able to uncover mysteries of her past, and will slowly fall for you in the process if you let her. Still, like every character, she has her likes and dislikes, and playing the game in certain ways will put her off, and potentially prevent her from ever opening up to you.
We’ll walk you around these pitfalls in this Shadowheart romance guide so you can woo her without issue.

How to romance Shadowheart – BG3
The easiest way to win favor with Shadowheart is to disagree with Lae’zel at every opportunity. These two do not like each other at all, so anytime you put Lae’zel down, Shadowheart will approve. This, somewhat counterintuitively, means that having Lae’zel in the party is best, as it will give you more opportunities to disagree with her and thus earn Shadowheart’s approval.
She also approves of any time you can end conflicts without violence. In particular, passing most persuasion and deception checks will earn you Shadowheart’s approval. This comes up in a big way with the Druids and Tieflings in Emerald Grove. If you can rescue Druid Halsin and end the conflict non-violently, she will be very pleased.
When it comes to finding out about her past, it’s best to wait until she offers up information, rather than asking her questions. She doesn’t mind the odd question here and there – especially when she starts the conversation – but if you keep pushing and prying, she won’t be happy.
Surprisingly, she’s also a fan of selfish actions. While she won’t be happy about unnecessary cruelty, she often approves of stealing, scamming, and generally deceitful behavior as long as there is justification for it.
As you raise your approval with her, she'll slowly reveal more about herself, and at that point, all you have to do is listen and be a supportive companion. Opportunities to deepen your bond will arise from there.
