Crusader Kings 3 best mods on the Steam Workshop
Crusader Kings 3 is a wide medieval sandbox in which players can role-play the type of ruler they wish to be. This sandbox is steadily growing, as Paradox Interactive is adding more and more mechanical systems and immersive flavor to the grand strategy RPG hybrid.
However, the developers are not the only people working on these areas: Crusader Kings 3 is home to a talented modding community with a long tradition of creating absolutely stunning and complex works that have the potential to completely change the game. One mod in particular has already won acclaim despite coming out only recently and spawned a variety of high-quality sub mods that add to it.
Here are some of the best Crusader Kings 3 mods on the Steam Workshop.
Best Crusader Kings 3 mods on the Steam Workshop
Community Flavor Pack
Adding over 200 original models for everything from crowns over armor to royal court furniture and hairstyles, the Community Flavor Pack greatly enhances the amount of authentic variety available to more than 50 cultural and religious groups in your Crusader Kings 3 game – and having drawn heavily on historical sources for the sake of visual consistency with the original material, you won’t even remember that all this comes from a mod. An amazing piece of work that will assist a lot in making your next game even more rich and immersive.

Knight Manager
Tired of having your perfectly good heir get the idea of being a brave and chivalrous knight stuck in their head, riding into some useless battle, and then being felled on the field, smashing all your carefully laid plans for the succession? The Knight Manager has the perfect solution for you. This mod makes it easier than ever to control which of your courtiers can serve as knights and which are forbidden from doing so by adding a simple UI element into the Knights tab in the game.

Cultural Armies Pack
Each culture wages war a little differently – sometimes very differently. While Crusader Kings 3 has a little bit of variety when it comes to Men at Arms Regiments being available to certain cultures, there is certainly a lot of room for additional customization here to make everyone feel more unique. The Cultural Armies Pack does exactly that, replacing the vanilla troop types with 215 Men at Arms Regiments that are only available depending on your people’s culture and technology. They also come with slightly different stats, adding some mechanical differences on top of aesthetic ones.

Succession Expanded
Do you find succession not complicated enough and want additional ways to steal a coveted title from some poor sod by making the right marriage choice? Well, Mr. von Habsburg, your dreams have been fulfilled: Succession Expanded adds various historical succession types to the game, which makes playing as certain cultures all the more interesting. From the Mongolian Kurultai to Eastern Roman co-emperors and the Proximity by Blood inheritance used by the crusaders, it’s a whole new world of intrigue and politicking out there that wants to be explored – and exploited.

Warcraft: Guardians of Azeroth Reforged
Inspired by a similar mod for Crusader Kings 2, Warcraft: Guardians of Azeroth Reforged is a total conversion mod for Crusader Kings 3, which – obviously – is set on the world of Azeroth and Blizzard’s Warcraft franchise. A brand-new map, all the Warcraft races, “historic” events, government types, units, cultures, and more are already integrated into the mod. It’s only in an Alpha state at the moment according to the developers, but already well worth a look for fans of Warcraft.

Princes of Darkness
Inspired by the World of Darkness, Dark Ages: Vampire, and Vampire: the Masquerade, this mod allows you to play as nearly immortal vampires, demons, and other dark beings and control your human possessions from the shadows. You must be careful, though, because hunters will try to end your long life and free the people from your yoke, and other beings of your sort are not quite friendly all the time either. Managing your stress is even more important in this mod than in the base game, for failing to do so means falling to the Beast…

A Game of Thrones
Cue the theme song! George R. R. Martin’s fantasy series and Crusader Kings 3 were made for each other and the developers of this mod have gone above and beyond with the details of this mod, which is simply called A Game of Thrones or AGOT, for short. Adding new mechanics to simulate the particularities of Westeros, AGOT is an ambitious project that’s set to grow even bigger in the future. The release version is already a blast, and various sub mods have already been made by other community members to add this gigantic work.

Armies of Westeros (AGOT)
Armies of Westeros is a little bit comparable to the Cultural Armies Pack mentioned above, only specifically for AGOT. It adds 34 new Men at Arms Regiments, which can be recruited by certain cultures or around specific areas of the world, adding even more setting-specific flavor.

Special Buildings Expanded (AGOT)
Another AGOT sub mod, Special Buildings Expanded adds 30 new buildings to various areas of Westeros, marking important or special locations from the lore of GRRM’s setting, such as the Mines of Castamere or the Dreadfort. These are little things the developers of the main mod will likely add in the future, but haven’t done yet as they had to focus on other things.

Valyrian Steel (AGOT)
We’re ending this list with another AGOT sub mod: Valyrian Steel adds the possibility of sending one of your courtiers to the long-lost land of Valyria in search of valuable artifacts such as dragon eggs and swords. These journeys have their dangers and consequences, however, so tread carefully. Another fantastic addition to AGOT, which enriches the entire experience.
