There’s an AI gun in Cyberpunk 2077 called Skippy. It’s a unique weapon that can chat with you via a holographic emoji projected on the weapon itself. It’s like something straight out of Borderlands, which is either a good or bad thing depending on how much you love annoying comic relief robots.

This guide will walk you through how to get Skippy in Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077: where to find Skippy the talking gun

There’s a minor side job called Machine Gun, unlocked after completing a mission called Playing For Time. Set Machine Gun as your active quest and it’ll take you to an alley in Vista del Rey.

Once there, you’ll find a weapon on a corpse. Pick it up and Skippy will introduce himself and start talking your head off.

Skippy has two firing modes:

  • Stone Cold Killer: In this mode, shots home in on enemy heads.
  • Puppy-Loving Pacifist: Non-lethal shots target enemy legs.

The thing is, you can only have one. Once you take down 50 enemies, the weapon will switch to the opposite of whatever firing mode you chose, permanently. Skippy is an ass. So if you want one of these firing modes, make sure you choose the opposite when asked.

However, you can choose the non-lethal mode and convince Skippy that “killing is wrong”, at which point he’ll allow you to keep the Puppy-Loving Pacifist mode. But who wants that when you can smart bullet people in the head?

Keep using Skippy and he’ll eventually reveal that Regina Jones was his original owner. That’s the NCPD quest giver who calls you up a little too often. You can only finish the quest by giving the gun back to Regina, so make sure you don’t complete the final step if you want to keep Skippy in your arsenal.
