Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat is the brand new game from NebulaJoy and Capcom that’s taking the Devil May Cry character action gameplay into the palm of your hands. As long as you have a strong team that can keep up with the tough enemies you’ll find in each level, you’ll have a fun time with this game – for at least 15 minutes.

If you want to get ahead in Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat early, then you’ll need two things: the best characters, and plenty of materials to level them up. You’ll find every playable character and variation in DMC:POC in this list, and you’ll be able to get a few extra materials by checking out our list of DMC:POC codes.

As of right now the playable characters are Dante, Lady, Nero, and Vergil, with V coming in a later update. That doesn’t mean there are only five total characters though, as there are variants on each of these with new weapons, outfits, and unique stats, which will make them more useful in battle. For the full lowdown on the characters you need to play in Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat, just look at our full ranked character tier list below.

DMC:POC character tier list

In this tier list we’re breaking down characters partially on their rarity and stat potential, but also on their ease of use and elemental advantages. This isn’t a definitive list however, and updates will put this list in flux.

S Tier

One of the best DMC:POC characters / NebulaJoy, Capcom

S Tier is reserved for the best of the best only in this list, and in the launch version of Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat, that has to be the rarest versions of Vergil and Dante. It’s only right.

Endless Judgement - Vergil

  • Legendary
  • Physical type

Royal Guard - Dante

  • Legendary
  • Physical type

A Tier

Can carry a team by himself.
Can carry a team by himself / NebulaJoy, Capcom

Most regular players will likely have their squad primarily comprised of these Legendary-rarity characters, especially since it currently contains the game’s only Ice elemental character.

One-Man Show - Dante

  • Legendary
  • Electric type

Frosty Grace - Lady

  • Legendary
  • Ice type

Fists of Salvation - Dante

  • Legendary
  • Fire type

B Tier

Unfortunately the worst version of Vergil.
Unfortunately the worst version of Vergil / NebulaJoy, Capcom

These are good replacements for your C Tier characters, but still not your ideal squad.

Nomadic Lightning - Vergil

  • Epic
  • Electric type

Spark Igniter - Lady

  • Epic
  • Fire type

Devil Crusher - Vergil

  • Epic
  • Physical type

C Tier

Swift Arsenal should be quickly replaced with Spark Igniter.
Swift Arsenal should be quickly replaced with Spark Igniter / NebulaJoy, Capcom

These are essentially the characters you earn early on in the game. They’re solid specifically for the early game, but you’ll want to swap them out for better alternatives as soon as you can.

Demon Hunter - Dante

  • Rare
  • Physical type

Swift Arsenal - Lady

  • Rare
  • Physical type

Knight of the Order - Nero

  • Rare
  • Fire type
