Enshrouded sparks: How to get more sparks
Enshrouded sparks are some of the most important items you can grab in the open-world survival game, but it’s happy to keep you guessing how to get them. You need sparks to upgrade your Flame Level, and you need a higher Flame Level to last longer in the shroud. Without that essential survival upgrade, you won’t be exploring much of Embervale.
Our Enshrouded sparks guide explains how to get more sparks and where to find them.

Enshrouded FAQ: All your Enshrouded questions, answered
What are sparks in Enshrouded?
Sparks are a resource you can find in two specific places, and you need them to upgrade your Flame Altar. That’s their only use, but since you need higher Flame Altar levels to explore further in Embervale, it’s a smart idea to always be on the lookout for more sparks.
Each Flame Altar upgrade requires increasingly more sparks. The first takes one, for example, and the final upgrade requires 40.
You'll see sparks traveling out from you to ignite torches and altars, but these aren't the sparks you need for upgrades. The only way to lose those is to spend them at your Flame Altar.
How to find sparks in Enshrouded
Sparks only come from Flame Sanctums and Flame Shrines, both of which are scattered across Embervale. There’s not much to indicate where you might find one, though the area around Cindervault has roughly half a dozen or more. One of them is near your second quest objective, just to the west of Braelyn Bridge’s northern end.
The in-game map icon for Flame Shrines and Flame Sanctums look the same - a small flame in the center of a cream-colored triangle - though you'll want to keep track of which areas you've already visited. The icons don't vanish when you collect a spark.
Your best bet is finding an Ancient Spire – locations that double as fast-travel points – and using them to see what you can find in the distance.
To collect a spark, you just need to interact with the flame in the shrine or sanctum. Shrines are easier to navigate, since they’re usually just open-air locations with no gimmicks. Sanctums function as mini-dungeons with traps, though as you progress in Enshrouded, you’ll need to put up with them when it’s time for more sparks.
