There are hidden items located in every region of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Yes, there are excavation sites that will be marked on your map, but away from those there are dozens of small items to uncover in literally every region – far too many to list.

Luckily there are some visual identifiers you can use to find hidden items without even getting on your Chocobo – though you will need your Chocobo to dig ‘em up.

In this guide, we’re breaking down everything you need to know to locate hidden items in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Hidden items are always near rabbits – FF7 Rebirth

First, there’s the one visual signifier that reveals that a hidden item is nearby: rabbits. You’ll find groups of rabbits all over every region in FF7 Rebirth, and if you mount your Chocobo while near them, you’ll find that there’s always a treasure nearby.

Of course, you’ll likely most often become aware of hidden items when a question mark appears above your Chocobo’s head while riding.

Finding and collecting hidden items – FF7 Rebirth

When you either see a group of rabbits and mount up or see that question mark appear above your Chocobo, that means an item is nearby. You can hold up on the D-pad to have your Chocobo start sniffing.

The question mark will have a small arrow around it, and you need to point your Chocobo in that direction to unveil where the item is. Your sniff has a radius, so you may need to move closer – or within the buried item’s line of sight – in order to reveal it.

It’s almost always buried very close to the rabbits, so just tap down on the D-pad in order to collect the hidden item once you’ve found where it’s buried.
