The next major update for Final Fantasy 14 is on its way very soon. Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida broadcast the Final Fantasy XIV Live Letter recently which revealed not only the release date of the 6.4 update, titled The Dark Throne, but also several of the changes and additions that are coming in this new patch.

It’s coming on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, which is just a week away, and brings plenty of what you would expect from a major update. New main scenario quests, raid dungeon, and trials are coming, alongside a new season of the Crystalline Conflict PvP mode. The new raid dungeon, Pandaemonium: Anabaseios, is particularly interesting, as it is the final raid of the Pandaemonium series.

Island Sanctuary is getting a pretty hefty update after being added in update 6.2. There will be new sanctuary ranks as well as gatherable items, plots, craftables, animals, and the ability to place outdoor furnishings near structures The mode is quickly becoming an expansive life sim, and the team is dedicated to expanding it further.

Some jobs are getting big changes based on feedback from the community. The Dark Knight has been favored as a high-damage tank job, so the Paladin, Gunbreaker, and Warrior jobs are all getting a boost in this department too. Plus, the fixes for Dragoon that were planned for the next expansion have been brought forward to this update.

Naturally, this update will come with an extended period of server downtime, so we’ll update you on when that is expected to start closer to the time, as well as the full details of the patch notes when they’re released.
