Version 3.8 of Genshin Impact is arriving very soon, though unlike previous updates it won’t have any brand-new playable Genshin Impact characters in store. Instead, all of the version’s banners will feature returning characters with the highly-anticipated Eula rerun being chief among them.

This does not mean that Genshin Impact is slowing down in any way: Update 4.0 with Fontaine is set to be launched after 3.8 has run its course and will once again feature two to three new characters per patch, so don’t worry about a lack of any fresh faces in the future.

For now, you can either pull any of the returning characters, in case you still need them for your collection or want to fill out their Constellations, or simply save up Wishes for upcoming content.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Genshin Impact 3.8 character banners.

Genshin Impact 3.8 banners: Phase 1

Starting on July 5, 2023, with update 3.8’s release, you’ll be able to call upon the following characters:

  • Banner #1: Eula (5-star character, laymore, Cryo), Mika (4-star character, polearm, Cryo), Thoma (4-star character, polearm, Pyro), and Razor (4-star character, claymore, Electro).
  • Banner #2: Klee (5-star character, catalyst, Pyro), Mika (4-star character, polearm, Cryo), Thoma (4-star character, polearm, Pyro), and Razor (4-star character, claymore, Electro).

Eula

It’s the return of the queen: After a record absence no other character had to endure, Eula is available again at last. She’s the most powerful damage dealer in the game when it comes to physical attacks, so anyone wanting to try out that play style should definitely go for her.

Klee

HoYoverse

Klee is a solid Pyro damage dealer, even though getting the best out of her requires a somewhat complicated play style. If you’re willing to learn, however, you’ll find her to be an adorable as well as destructive character to wield.

Mika

Mika is… well, he exists. He’s supposed to be a support character that synergizes well with Eula and does that to a certain extent, but other characters are just better with her.

Thoma

HoYoverse

Thoma is an alright Pyro support, though a bit overshadowed by other options. Pyro-only teams definitely benefit from his presence.

Razor

Razor is in a similar position as Mika. He’s a physical damage dealer, but is simply overshadowed by many other characters that do things better than him.

Genshin Impact 3.8 banners: Phase 2

After a duration of three weeks, the banners will change at the halfway point of the game version on July 25, 2023. That’ll make the following characters available:

  • Banner #3: Sangonomiya Kokomi (5-star character, catalyst, Hydro), Yanfei (4-star character, catalyst, Pyro), Rosaria (4-star character, polearm, Cryo), and Faruzan (4-star character, bow, Anemo).
  • Banner #4: Wanderer (5-star character, catalyst, Anemo), Yanfei (4-star character, catalyst, Pyro), Rosaria (4-star character, polearm, Cryo), and Faruzan (4-star character, bow, Anemo).

HoYoverse

Kokomi is a must-have for pretty much anyone: She’s one of the greatest off-field applicators for Hydro, able to heal a ton of damage, and dish out great amounts of damage herself through her Elemental Burst. To survive hardship, pull for Kokomi.

Wanderer

Wanderer brings some interesting mechanics to the table, being able to float and attack at the same time. As an Anemo character, he’s great at maximizing reaction damage. For his best performances, pair him up with Faruzan.

Yanfei

HoYoverse

Yanfei is a very solid option if you’re on the market for a Pyro damage dealer: She can trigger powerful reactions, has constant Pyro application due to being a catalyst user, and her legal knowledge will probably be pretty useful once we’re entering Fontaine, the land of justice.

Rosaria

HoYoverse

Rosaria is one of those characters that go well with Eula, but can stand on her own feet as a competent physical damage dealer as well.

Faruzan

Faruzan from Genshin Impact.
HoYoverse

Faruzan was specifically designed to act as a support for Wanderer and does that job very well. She’s also great with other Anemo characters or can fill a support slot on teams with other DPS characters, so she’s quite versatile despite her originally intended use.

The update 3.8 banners will be in the game until mid-August 2023, when version 4.0 is set to launch.
