Update 4.1 of Genshin Impact is being released soon, introducing a duo of brand-new playable Genshin Impact characters.

Both of these upcoming Genshin Impact characters will be of the 5-Star variety: Neuvillette, the Chief Justice presiding over Fontaine’s famous court, and Wriothesley, a duke in command of Fontaine’s infamous prison, the Fortress of Meropide, will join the roster. Astute observers will notice that version 4.1 is going to be a great one indeed for husbando enjoyers.

Naturally, the upcoming update will feature its share of returning characters as well.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Genshin Impact 4.1 character banners.

Genshin Impact 4.1 banners: Phase 1

Starting on September 27, 2023, with update 4.1’s release, you’ll be able to call upon the following characters:

  • Banner #1: Neuvillette (5-Star character, catalyst, Hydro), Fischl (4-Star character, bow, Electro), Xingqiu (4-Star character, sword, Hydro), and Diona (4-Star character, bow, Cryo).
  • Banner #2: Hu Tao (5-Star character, polearm, Pyro), Fischl (4-Star character, bow, Electro), Xingqiu (4-Star character, sword, Hydro), and Diona (4-Star character, bow, Cryo).

Neuvillette

HoYoverse

Neuvillette is a powerful Hydro damage dealer, who scales with his maximum HP and seems to be quite versatile in regards to his team composition. While he has some self-healing abilities, some of his strongest attacks require him to sacrifice parts of his HP.

Hu Tao

Artwork of a young woman wearing a hat.
HoYoverse

Hu Tao is one of the most popular characters in Genshin Impact’s history. Just like Neuvillette, she’s an on-field damage dealer, who consumes her own HP to trigger powerful attacks only to heal herself later on.

Fischl

Artwork of a young woman with an eye patch.
HoYoverse

Fischl is a fantastic off-field Electro character thanks to her useful companion, the night raven Oz. She’s one of those ever-relevant characters that are always good to build.

Xingqiu

Artwork of a young blue-haired man.
HoYoverse

Xingqiu is a familiar face for many players, as he’s one of the best off-field characters to have on your roster. Providing bits of healing and damage, but most importantly a steady amount of Hydro application, he’s a fantastic unit to have around.

Diona

Diona from Genshin Impact.
HoYoverse

Diona is a solid Cryo shielder and healer, who brings some elemental application to the table as well.

Genshin Impact 4.1 banners: Phase 2

After a duration of three weeks, the banners will change at the halfway point of the game version on October 17, 2023. That’ll make the following characters available:

  • Banner #3: Wriothesley (5-Star character, catalyst, Cryo), Chongyun (4-Star character, claymore, Cryo), Thoma (4-Star character, polearm, Pyro), and Dori (4-Star character, claymore, Electro).
  • Banner #4: Venti (5-Star character, bow, Anemo), Chongyun (4-Star character, claymore, Cryo), Thoma (4-Star character, polearm, Pyro), and Dori (4-Star character, claymore, Electro).

Wriothesley

HoYoverse

Wriothesley is another new catalyst wielder, but uses the weapon more like Heizou – in a martial arts style. Just like Neuvillette, Wriothesley uses his own HP to enhance some of his attacks, but has ways of restoring his health somewhat without needing a healer.

Venti

Genshin Impact Venti artwork.
HoYoverse

Venti breaks the theme of 5-Star characters who cannibalize their own HP to deal damage – he’s more of a support character, providing typical Anemo services like elemental resistance shred and crowd control. And he does those things very well, which you’d expect from an Archon.

Chongyun

Genshin Impact Chongyun artwork.
HoYoverse

Chongyun is a bit of a forgotten Cryo character, who can infuse his element into the attacks of his party members to create strong reactions.

Thoma

Genshin Impact Thoma artwork.
HoYoverse

Thoma is a Pyro support. A little bit like Chongyun, he’s not exactly a prominent character on the teams of most people, but he does his job as a damage amplifier well.

Dori

Artwork of a pink-haired girl with sunglasses.
HoYoverse

Dori is a healer and has the unique ability to directly charge someone’s energy to get their Elemental Burst online. Though not overly popular, she makes for a fun addition to many teams.

Three weeks afterward, update 4.2 with four new banners will become available.
