Genshin Impact Electro characters play a key role in some of the free-to-play game's most important elemental reactions, but the best Electro characters offer your party more than just elemental magic. They offer buffs, heal wounds, and, in the best cases, even carry your party through tough battles almost entirely on their own.

Genshin Impact Electro characters – S+ rank

These are the best of the best, the ones who benefit every team, even without much investment in stats and Constellations.

Raiden Shogun

Bonus points for pulling a sword from your chest / HoYoverse

Raiden Shogun is an exceptional character who has something to offer as a main-DPS, sub-DPS, and even as a support character. Her burst deals a hefty amount of damage if you time it well with bursts from the rest of your team, and her skill applies Electro whenever your active character attacks. She also raises the party’s energy recharge, which is handy for characters with high costs – Yae Miko, for example – or who generate little energy themselves.

Yae Miko may be slow, but she sure is useful :: HoYoverse/GLHF

S-rank Electro characters are just about as good as our S+ pick, but with a caveat or two that make them a little challenging.

Yae Miko

Yae Miko deals Electro damage wherever she drops one of her three kitsune spirits. These stay on the field for a long time, and when she uses the skill, she does a little dash – useful for getting away in a pinch. 

That’s good, since nearly everything else about Miko is slow. Her charged attacks take a long time, her movement is slow, and her burst costs 90 energy, one of the highest in the game. The results when you fire off that burst with three spirits on the field make it worth the trouble, though.

Fischl

It takes some work to bring out Fischl’s potential as a sub-DPS. She needs investment in her attack stat, and her talents really shine after you unlock her final Constellation. However, as an Electro trigger, she’s up there with Raiden Shogun in terms of usefulness. 

Her skill summons Oz the raven, who fires an Electro bolt in coordination with your character’s attacks, making it easy to spread Electro around the field for another character to react with.

Cyno

Cyno gets an edge over Keqing in our Electro tier since he can sustain his Electro output for longer and has higher buff scaling values from his passive talents. You need some investment in his elemental mastery and a party with off-field elemental effects to make the most of his kit. 

On the bright side, that high elemental mastery means he’ll make good use of any reactions you trigger in addition to his usual Electro damage output.

If only she healed everyone / HoYoverse

Our A-rank picks offer a lot, but with one or two caveats that make them a little more difficult to use.

Keqing

Keqing is fast, with good energy recharge, short cooldown times, and a propensity for landing critical hits. The problem is that she's become a little niche since Dendro came on the scene. She'll clear any challenge if you have a good source of Dendro, but in any other situation, she's not quite as powerful without most of her Constellations activated.

Kuki Shinobu

Kuki Shinobu heals and applies Electro with her skill, which is pretty useful. The downside is that it only heals the active party member – not helpful if you’re doing fast rotations – and its damage scaling is low. She works best in teams that need Electro for reactions if you don’t have Miko or Raiden Shogun.

Beidou

Beidou is one of the more complex Electro characters. If you get your timings right and counter enemy hits, she can deal a respectable amount of damage. Her real use is as a sub-DPS, though, as her burst applies damage and Electro to nearby enemies, which makes triggering reactions a breeze. The downside is that she needs all her Constellations to work well in that role.

She's not happy with her rank / HoYoverse

B-rank Electro characters have some helpful benefits for your party, but they come with a high cost.

Kujou Sara

Kujou Sara works well on paper, with her attack buffs that rival Bennett’s and the energy recharge boost she provides. Her skill takes more work than most to apply properly, though, and her buffs don’t last long. At that point, you might as well just stick with Bennett.

Lisa

Lisa’s kit could be excellent if it didn’t take so much time to use. Her skill creates an Electro burst in a wide area, but she’s vulnerable to damage and interruption while it charges, and her elemental burst costs 80 energy. If your party includes a good energy battery, though, Lisa can still fit into most teams without too much hassle.

Razor

Razor, aka the Cyno prototype. His burst is his only redeeming feature, and while the Electro application and damage are impressive, there’s just not much you can do with him while it’s in cooldown.

So smug, yet so mid / HoYoverse

These are the ones you’re better off without.

Electro Traveler

The Electro Traveler seems like a good idea, but HoYoverse broke their kneecaps. Their skill and burst deal a decent amount of Electro damage, and they even have support capabilities, as the amulets their skill creates restore energy and increase energy recharge. The cooldowns are so long, though, that all of these perks are impractical. You just can’t do much with them.

Dori

Dori’s meant to be an energy battery, but her energy regeneration capabilities are locked behind an expensive burst. Dori’s only other method of applying Electro is slow and bulky, and even with her burst, you have to position her just right for it to work. When even Lisa is better, there’s just not much reason to bother with Dori.
