While you can play Helldivers 2 solo, the real fun is jumping in with a full party and blasting bugs as a group. Whether you’re trying to play online with friends or strangers, you’ll be reliant on the game servers to get you connected and ready to play, which means there can sometimes be issues.

As it’s launch day and a lot of people are currently playing all at once, Helldiver 2’s servers are experiencing some issues that are stopping some divers from playing online. We’ll explain a couple of things you can do to try and get around this problem.

This issue is occurring due to the high load on the server, as the game has just launched. This is something the team behind the game will be working on to stabilize over time. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do that will guarantee a successful connection right now, but there are a couple of things you can do to raise your odds a bit.

Firstly, reboot the game by closing and re-entering it. We know “turn it off and on again” was probably your first thought anyway, but you’d be surprised how often it works. If you’re still having trouble, try turning off crossplay, as this will narrow down the servers the game will try to connect to, and could raise your chances of success.

If that still doesn’t work then there’s not much you can do other than wait. However, the game is still fully playable solo, so you can still dive into the action and start gaining some levels while you wait for the online mode to stabilize.
