Midway through Hogwarts Legacy, you might come across a treasure hunt quest called Solved by the Bell, found on the southeast portion of the open world map. You trigger it by finding a piece of parchment with a map location, a drawing of some bells, and some musical notes.

Make sure to read through our other Hogwarts Legacy guides for everything you need to know about the game, including puzzle solutions, item locations, and more.

The first thing you need to do is track down the map location in Solved by the Bell.

Solved by the Bell musical map location - Hogwarts Legacy

This is the map location for Hogwarts Legacy: Solved by the Bell.

The place where you need to go is also in the Southeast portion of Hogwarts Legacy’s map, almost at the tip of the peninsula. It is by a fast-travel point called Clagmar Castle, located on the Clagmar Coast. There’s a Floo Flame right by it.

Once you arrive, you’ll have to clear the area of enemies. When they’re dealt with, cast Revelio and fly around on your broom within the compound until you spot the bells, then set down on the platform opposite.

Solved by the Bell puzzle solution - Hogwarts Legacy

The note you find to complete Hogwarts Legacy's tricky bell puzzle.

As you can see on the note above, each bell corresponds to a musical note, and you’re expected to play the tune on the sheet music at the bottom.

To make things easier, we will name each bell 1-9 from the top to the bottom. So the highest bell is number 1 and the lowest bell is number 9. Simply aim and hit them in order using your regular cast.

Here’s the sequence you need to hit in Hogwarts Legacy: Solved by the Bell.

  • Bell 8
  • Bell 5
  • Bell 3
  • Bell 4
  • Bell 5
  • Bell 1
  • Bell 2
  • Bell 4

Do it correctly and the bells will play the Harry Potter theme. A chest will appear next to you and you can open it to get the Treasure Seeker’s Longcoat. If you want to show it off and you’re not sure how to change your appearance in Hogwarts Legacy, we’ve got you covered at that link.
