Show off the secret strength of Dan Heng with the best Honkai: Star Rail Imbibitor Lunae build. This 5-Star character is a follower of the Path of The Destruction and deals Imaginary Damage, being the fourth available unit with this attack type. This actually opens up an intriguing Imaginary Damage team composition, but more on that below.

Imbibitor Lunae’s Skill, Dracore Libre, enhances his Basic Attack, Beneficent Lotus, between one and three times, depending on how many Skill Points you want to invest. Each of these enhancement levels, which cost one to three Skill Points, has different effects, so here’s an overview:

  • Enhanced Basic Attack 1 – Transcendence: Deals Imaginary Damage to a single target over several hits.
  • Enhanced Basic Attack 2 – Divine Spear: Deals Imaginary Damage to multiple targets over several hits.
  • Enhanced Basic Attack 3 – Fulgurant Leap: Deals increased Imaginary Damage to multiple targets over several hits.

Using more Skill Points to enhance the Basic Attack will yield more damage on every hit as well as increase the number of hits during the move. This is especially useful as his Talent, Righteous Heart, boosts his damage with every hit Imbibitor Lunae lands during his turn. In addition, Dracore Libre allows him to stack up Dominating Roar when using Divine Spear or Fulgurant Leap with stacks being obtained starting at the fourth hit of the attack. Each stack of this passive grants him additional Critical Hit Damage until the end of his turn.

His Ultimate, Azure’s Aqua Ablutes All, primarily targets one enemy, but some damage is blasted to adjacent targets. It deals Imaginary Damage and grants Squama Sacrosancta, which can be used to help offset Imbibitor Lunae’s high Skill Point needs.

Imbibitor Lunae’s Eidolon Levels, which you can increase by pulling additional copies of him, can further boost his power. Eidolon 1 increases the maximum number of possible Righteous Heart stacks, thus expanding the character’s damage potential. Eidolon 2 allows him to Advance Forward his action by 100% after using his Ultimate in addition to gaining a second Squama Sacrosancta. Eidolon 4 allows the Dominating Roar passive to stick around to the end of his next turn. Eidolon 6, finally, boosts the Imaginary Resistance Penetration of Imbibitor Lunae’s next Fulgurant Leap attack by 20% up to three times after allies use their Ultimate.

Honkai: Star Rail – Imbibitor Lunae: best Light Cones

Imbibitor Lunae has a signature Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail, which is called Brighter Than the Sun and is available in the Light Cone banner running alongside his character banner. Perfectly designed for him, this item increases the Critical Hit Rate of the wearer and allows them to gain a stack of Dragon’s Call for two turns upon using their Basic Attack. Dragon’s Call boosts the wearer’s Attack and Energy Regeneration Rate, stacking up to two times.

You’ll basically spam your Basic Attacks in their enhanced form with Imbibitor Lunae, so a Light Cone interacting with that mechanic is going to be very strong.

Best Light Cones for Imbibitor Lunae:

  • Brighter Than the Sun (5-Star)
  • The Unreachable Side (5-Star)
  • On the Fall of an Aeon (5-Star)
  • Something Irreplaceable (5-Star)
  • Under the Blue Sky (4-Star)
  • Collapsing Sky (3-Star)
Even as Imbibitor Lunae, Dan Heng doesn't actually love fighting. He's pretty good at it, though / HoYoverse

Honkai: Star Rail – Imbibitor Lunae: best Relics

Imbibitor Lunae definitely wants more Attack, as this is the stat all of his damage derives from. Critical Hit Damage as well as Critical Hit Rate will be useful, too. Speed, as always, should be on the agenda, though perhaps not as the focus, since Imbibitor Lunae can Advance Forward his turn with his own Ultimate anyways. Energy Regeneration Rate may not be needed if you have his signature Light Cone, but otherwise might come in handy to get that Ultimate up faster.

Best Relic Set for Imbibitor Lunae:

  • Wastelander of Banditry Desert (4) – +10% Imaginary Damage, +10% Critical Hit Rate when attacking debuffed enemies, +20% Critical Hit Damage when attacking Imprisoned enemies.

Best Planar Ornaments for Imbibitor Lunae:

  • Rutilant Arena (2) – +8% Critical Hit Rate, +20% Basic Attack and Skill damage when the wearer’s Critical Hit Rate reaches 70%.

Prioritize the following Relic and Planar Ornament stats for Imbibitor Lunae:

  • Head – HP (Primary), Critical Hit Rate %, Critical Hit Damage %, Attack %, Speed
  • Hands – Attack (Primary), Critical Hit Rate %, Critical Hit Damage %, Attack %, Speed
  • Body – Critical Hit Rate % or Critical Hit Damage % (Primary), Critical Hit Rate % or Critical Hit Damage %, Attack %, Speed, Attack
  • Feet – Attack % (Primary), Critical Hit Rate %, Critical Hit Damage %, Speed, Attack
  • Planar Sphere – Imaginary Damage % (Primary), Critical Hit Rate %, Critical Hit Damage %, Attack %, Speed
  • Link Rope – Energy Regeneration Rate % (Primary), Critical Hit Rate %, Critical Hit Damage %, Attack %, Speed
Imbibitor Lunae's powers are quite biblical with him splitting the sea and all that / HoYoverse

Honkai: Star Rail – Imbibitor Lunae: best teams

Imbibitor Lunae is the star of the show and everyone else is there to give him the perfect stage. You’ll want a healer as well as a support crew to come with him with, all preferably as Skill Point-neutral as possible.

Silver Wolf can inflict the Imaginary Weakness on enemies to make Imbibitor Lunae’s attacks more effective. Since this effect holds on for more than a turn, you can then use her Basic Attack to cause further debuffs while regaining Skill Points. Those debuffs will also help boost Imbibitor Lunae’s damage from the Wastelander of Banditry Desert set.

Yukong will need to use Skill Points for her buff, but provides a very useful passive damage bonus to Imaginary Damage for the entire team through one of her Traces. Finally, Luocha is an excellent healer that is light on Skill Point use thanks to his automatic healing and his healing field. In this way, Imbibitor Lunae should have enough Skill Points to work with during his turns, especially when his Ultimate comes into play.

Imbibitor Lunae also opens up the intriguing possibility of a mono-Imaginary team with Welt in Silver Wolf’s place. He can also provide debuffs and would benefit from Yukong’s passive, but he’ll require a Skill Point every turn to do his best work.

It's a good thing that we don't have to kill Dan Heng every time we want Imbibitor Lunae on the field / HoYoverse
