Nintendo made the announcement in a tweet and said we can expect roughly 25 minutes of announcements from the company’s third-party publishing partners. Which partners might have something to show and whether Nintendo themselves have something up their sleeves is anyone’s guess, though some usually-correct leakers, including PyoroX, teased one or two announcements from Nintendo-owned studios.

What to expect from February 2024 Nintendo Direct

Since this one is a partner showcase, Nintendo will focus on third-party games. That could include anything from indie games to something from Sega or Bandai Namco. It will likely include at least two of the four Xbox games coming to Switch, rumored to be Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment. Nearly a week prior to the Direct date, Microsoft’s special episode of the Xbox Podcast, where division head Phil Spencer outlined the company’s plans for porting older games to non-Xbox platforms.

What else Nintendo might have in store is anyone’s guess. The Big N’s first-party lineup looks pretty thin after Super Princess Peach. While leakers are teasing anything from Metroid Prime 4 to a new Fire Emblem or Pokemon game, unconfirmed reports suggest that Nintendo is focusing its efforts on bolstering the Switch 2’s initial lineup. Nintendo reportedly pushed the console’s release into 2025 after concluding it needed more software at launch.
