Octopath Traveler 2 Inventor guide: How to unlock every skill

Octopath Traveler 2's secret jobs are unique compared to the first game, and the Inventor job requires you to complete a worldwide scavenger hunt

Octopath Traveler 2 has four secret jobs for you to find during your adventure but by far the easiest to track down is the Inventor job, which is available in one of the early-game areas. This job is unique, as rather than unlocking its abilities using JP you must instead gather items from around the world to create the new inventions that will aid you on your journey.

Due to all the work required to get these skills, they’re extremely powerful, so we’ll tell you where to get the Inventor job and how to craft all of its abilities.

If you're looking to get started in the game, check out our Octopath Traveler 2 tips and tricks for help along the way.

Octopath Traveler 2: Inventor job location

Octopath 2 Inventor guild

Inventor is the first advanced job you'll likely find in Octopath 2.

You’ll be able to get to the Inventor job as soon as you’ve completed Chapter 1 of your starting character, although life will be easier if you pick a character that starts on the Eastern Continent, like Throné, Osvald, or Temenos. You’ll want to head south to the Eastern New Delsta Highroad – the area directly outside New Delsta.

In the southern part of the area, you’ll find a lake, go along the path to the north of this lake and you’ll be taken over a wooden bridge and find a large wooden house. Enter it and you’ll meet Arkar, the Inventor.

He’ll explain what he’s all about (spoilers: it’s inventing) and let you look at the list of items he needs for each invention. This will unlock the Inventor job and its starting abilities.
