Azelf is a Pokémon Go 5-Star Raid Boss and an esteemed member of the Lake Guardians, a mysterious trio of Legendary Pokémon. In the popular mobile game, Azelf is also a regional Pokémon, which means that only Gyms in certain parts of the globe will feature battles with the creature – Azelf only appears in the Americas. As such, you’ll need to get yourself an invite to an Azelf raid through a friend, a chat group, or an app, and take part in the action remotely, if you’re outside the area.

A Raid Hour featuring Azelf will take place on February 21, 2024, from 6 to 7pm local time and will have the Shiny version of the monster activated.

Azelf is a Psychic-type Pokémon, which means you’ll need to call on your arsenal of Bug-, Dark-, and Ghost-types to battle it effectively. This is pretty straightforward, even with the handicap of the Remote Raid damage reduction.

We’ve collected the best Pokémon Go Azelf counters below to ensure you’re on the right track.
