Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC: how to get an easy Shiny Poltchageist
For many Pokémon fans there is always one main question when a new Pokémon is added to the games, can it be shiny hunted? While the new legendaries like Ogrepon and the Loyal Three are shiny-locked, standard Pokémon like Dipplin and Poltchageist are out there waiting for you to find them and make them shine.
Thankfully, Scarlet & Violet comes with one of the easiest shiny hunting methods ever introduced in the series, so we’ll explain how you can use it to get a Poltchageist. Before you do though, make sure you pick up the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet gift Shiny Munchlax for free.

For this, we’ll be using Sparkling Power sandwiches. If you’ve never used these before, you can use the Herba Mystica items you can get from 5 and 6-start raids to give yourself a Sparkling Power effect, which temporarily boosts your odds of finding a shiny Pokémon.
For this, you’ll need to make a Ghost-type Sparkling Power sandwich. Using the recipes discovered by DannyDestroyer12 on Reddit, you’ll need tomato, onion, green pepper, hamburger, two red onion, and any two Herba Mystica to make the sandwich.
Once you have the effect, head to the southeastern area of Kitakami. As explained in our how to evolve Poltchageist in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet guide, Poltchageist only spawns in areas with bamboo.
The Ghost-type sandwich will ensure that only Poltchageist spawns in the area, letting you either bounce between the bamboo patches or simply circle one looking for spawns. You will have to look carefully as Poltchageist’s shiny form can be hard to spot. The black parts of the pot switch colors to a dark green, as this is a small Pokémon would will likely have to give it a very close look.
Also be warned, if you are at a very high level, the Poltchageist that spawns will know Memento, which will lead to the Pokémon KOing itself. You can take the chance with a Quick Ball if you want, but it would be safer to teach a Pokémon both Memento and Imprison, then use Imprison on the first turn to prevent Poltchaeist from using Memento.
